About The Dancing Yogi

Some people have asked me why I have named my bamboo products company, The Dancing Yogi. Well, it is because I have been a Yoga teacher for 21 years, and every time I wear my bamboo clothing I feel like dancing and swaying with this brand new fabric's "flowing" feel. Everybody does! Personally, I will never get tired of talking about and showing people this amazing fabric that has only been created in the past 4 years. Who would have thought that a plant that has been around for thousands of years, and has been utilized in such things as chopsticks, airplane parts, medicine, musical instruments, and kitchen floors, could become the softest fabric on the planet!

When we introduce our customers to our beautiful clothing, we love watching their surprised look when they learn that this fabulous, fashionable garment is in fact made of bamboo. (We even thought of putting those pictures on our web site because the look is always the same!)

My fascination with bamboo goes way back as I always leaned toward the "natural" look in the products I bought. We all knew about hemp and organic cotton, but when bamboo material was introduced, it was clear to see that it would become the "eco cashmere" of our century. As a Yoga teacher interested in the healthy aspects of living, I was especially drawn to bamboo's ability to grow without pesticides or fertilizers and it even has the capacity to grow 47 inches in 24 hours! WOW! Even the dyes are all natural. I really do think about the chemicals we WEAR. Our skin is the largest organ of our body, and when we wear products that are grown and infused with chemicals of any kind, the skin breathes them. And when we perspire during exercise, it only stands to reason that we absorb the chemicals right into our bodies as well.

I love our planet and I love sustaining it with bamboo, but I am also a woman who enjoys fashion and being fashionable. It just doesn't get much better than to wear an exquisitely soft, gently dyed, eco-friendly garment that soothes my soul with luxury and keeps our planet smiling at the same time!
